13 ANDRE2 – Very nice duplex apartment, 100m from La Croisette and beaches
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places along the Côte d’Azur, and finding something that doesn’t completely drain your wallet while still being this close to La Croisette? That’s actually pretty rare. This duplex on Rue du Commandant André sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to all the good stuff, but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of tourists at all hours.
The thing that struck me first was how the place feels way more spacious than your typical Cannes accommodation – I mean, when you’re dealing with a duplex, you’ve got actual room to spread out, which honestly makes such a difference after long days exploring the city or lounging on the beach. The location is what really sells it though. You know that stretch where Rue du Commandant André meets up with the pedestrian areas? You’re literally a two-minute stroll from the Palais des Festivals, and the beaches – well, they’re right there. No need to deal with the crazy taxi situation during festival season or figure out the bus routes when you just want to grab a quick swim.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings, despite being so central. The street itself has this nice residential feel, with actual locals going about their business, not just the endless parade of tourists you get closer to the port. There’s a little boulangerie practically around the corner that opens early – perfect for grabbing croissants before the beaches get crowded. And honestly, parking in Cannes is usually a nightmare, but this area actually has some options if you’re driving (though you probably don’t need to, given where everything is). The building itself has that classic French apartment vibe without being stuffy about it. During festival time, you’re close enough to walk to all the screenings and parties, but you can actually get some sleep when you need it. I stayed during a quieter period in late September, and the whole neighborhood had this lovely, almost local feel to it – people walking their dogs, kids heading to school, that sort of thing. Makes you feel less like you’re just passing through and more like you’re actually experiencing Cannes beyond the glitzy surface stuff.
The concierge service in Cannes can arrange exclusive access to film screenings, secure reservations at celebrity-frequented restaurants, and organize personalized visits to the Palais des Festivals and nearby islands.
