Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Cannes, but this apartment on Avenue de Vallauris really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you first walk in, honestly, the space just opens up in front of you and you realize you’re not dealing with some cramped hotel room situation. We’re talking 130 square meters here, which I mean, that’s bigger than most people’s actual homes. The four bedrooms are spread out nicely too, so if you’re traveling with friends or family, nobody’s stepping on each other’s toes.

But here’s the thing that really got me – that terrace and garden area is absolutely massive. I spent most of my mornings out there with coffee, and you know what? You can actually hear birds instead of just traffic noise, which is pretty rare when you’re this close to the action in Cannes. The garden’s got this lived-in feel, not like some sterile hotel landscaping. There are actual fruit trees (grabbed a few oranges, don’t tell anyone), and the terrace furniture is the kind you’d actually want to sit in for hours, not just pose for Instagram shots. The whole setup faces away from the main road, so even though you’re on Avenue de Vallauris – which can get busy during festival season – it’s surprisingly peaceful back there.

Location-wise, you’re in La Californie, which honestly took me a few visits to Cannes to really appreciate. It’s up in the hills just enough that you get those glimpses of the Mediterranean between the palm trees, but you’re still only about a 10-minute drive down to the Croisette. The walk down is doable if you don’t mind the uphill return trip – though after a long day at the beach, I usually just grabbed an Uber back up. There’s a little épicerie about two blocks away where the owner actually remembers your face after a couple days, and the morning bread runs became part of my routine. Parking’s included, thank god, because finding a spot during peak season down by the waterfront is basically impossible.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a rental property – there are books on the shelves, decent kitchen equipment (I actually cooked a few meals, which I never do when traveling), and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. The bedrooms are on the quieter side of the building, and the main living area gets this amazing afternoon light that makes everything look golden. Only minor complaint? The shower pressure could be stronger, but honestly, after spending days at the beach, I wasn’t exactly demanding spa-level water pressure.

What really sealed it for me was how the whole place just works for different types of trips. When I was there with friends, we could spread out and have our own space, but the common areas are big enough that we weren’t cramped when we all wanted to hang out together. The terrace became our default evening spot – we’d grab wine from the Monoprix down the hill and just watch the sunset paint the sky. It’s the kind of place where you actually relax instead of just crashing between tourist activities, and in Cannes, that’s honestly pretty special.
