But honestly, don’t let that put you off because this spot on Petit Juas turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you actually discovered something in Cannes.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re tucked away from the chaos of La Croisette (which, let’s be honest, gets overwhelming during festival season), but you can still catch glimpses of the Mediterranean from the windows – hence that “apercu mer” part of the ridiculous name. I loved being able to walk down to the Carnot Boulevard area for morning coffee without fighting through crowds of tourists taking selfies every ten meters. The building itself has that classic French apartment feel, nothing fancy but solid and comfortable. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no pretentious lobby scene, just keys and you’re sorted. The two-room setup actually works really well; you’ve got proper separation between sleeping and living space, which is harder to find than you’d think in Cannes without paying resort prices.

What really won me over was how the place feels genuinely local. You’ll hear French conversations drifting up from the street in the evenings, there’s a proper boulangerie around the corner where locals queue up for their morning bread, and the whole Petit Juas neighborhood has this lived-in authenticity that the waterfront areas have sort of lost. The apartment gets lovely light in the afternoons, and while the sea view isn’t going to make your Instagram followers weep with envy, there’s something satisfying about spotting that blue horizon while you’re having your morning coffee. Parking can be a bit tricky – this is Cannes, after all – but the area is much more manageable than trying to navigate closer to the Palais des Festivals. I actually found myself preferring the twenty-minute walk down to the beach because you get to see how the city really works, not just its polished tourist face. The 9-star rating makes perfect sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price and location. Sure, it’s not going to pamper you with room service and marble bathrooms, but if you want a genuine base for exploring Cannes without the resort markup, this weird little place with its WiFi password name delivers exactly what matters.
