Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this little townhouse on Avenue Florida, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the places with the most awkward listings turn out to be exactly what you didn’t know you needed. This 55-square-meter gem sits tucked away in La Californie, which is basically Cannes without the tourist circus – and honestly, that’s exactly the point.
The house itself has this lived-in charm that you just can’t fake. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but there’s something really satisfying about having your own front door and a proper little garden where you can actually sit with your morning coffee without dodging hotel staff. The parking situation alone makes this place worth considering – and if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near central Cannes during festival season, you’ll understand why I’m getting excited about a driveway. The rooms feel bigger than 55 square meters somehow, probably because you’re not crammed into a typical hotel box. There’s actual counter space in the kitchen (revolutionary, I know), and the bedroom gets this lovely morning light that makes you want to linger under the covers a bit longer.
What really sold me on this spot was the neighborhood feel. You’re about a 10-minute walk from the Croisette if you want to do the whole glamorous Cannes thing, but you can also just wander down to the local boulangerie on Rue de Mimont and grab pastries like a semi-local. The area gets surprisingly quiet in the evenings – you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but nothing that keeps you up at night. Actually, the most charming thing might be the elderly French couple next door who tend their garden every morning around 8 AM. Their roses smell incredible in late spring, and they’ll give you a polite nod once they decide you’re not completely terrible. Fair warning though – the shower pressure is decent but not amazing, and you’ll want to bring your own coffee if you’re particular about that sort of thing. The local Monoprix is close enough for groceries, but it’s one of those smaller ones, so don’t expect a huge selection. Still, there’s something genuinely nice about settling into a place that feels more like borrowing a friend’s house than checking into accommodation. You’ll find yourself taking different routes to the beach just because you can, and actually enjoying the 15-minute walk instead of cursing the distance.
