— The hotel
A056 – Nice Studio Cannes centre with parking
Honestly, when I first pulled up to this place on Boulevard Général Vautrin, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s basically a studio apartment that doubles as a hotel room. But you know what? Sometimes the simple approach just works. The building sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the Palais des Festivals (maybe 12 minutes if you’re not rushing), but far enough from the Croisette madness that you can actually get some sleep at night.
The studio itself is pretty straightforward – nothing fancy, but everything you actually need is there. The kitchenette is small but functional (I managed to make coffee and heat up some pastries from the boulangerie down the street without any drama), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for what I was expecting. What really sold me, though, was the parking situation. Look, if you’ve ever tried to find a parking spot in Cannes during festival season – or honestly, any summer weekend – you’ll understand why having a guaranteed space is worth its weight in gold. The spot comes with the room, which already puts this place ahead of half the hotels in the area where you’re either paying 25 euros a day for parking or circling the blocks like a vulture.
The location is actually pretty clever when you think about it. You’re technically on the Pointe Croisette side, so you get that “prestigious address” feeling, but you’re positioned where real people live and work. There’s a decent supermarket about three blocks away (Monoprix, if you’re wondering), and the morning market on Rue Meynadier is close enough that you can grab fresh produce without making it a whole expedition. The area gets quiet after 10 PM, which I appreciated – none of that late-night party noise that drifts up from the beach clubs. The only minor thing is that the building itself is a bit dated on the outside, sort of that 1970s concrete look that’s everywhere in this part of town, but inside it’s been kept up well enough. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to explore beyond just the touristy waterfront stuff – it feels more like you’re staying in Cannes rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.
