I mean, it really is just a solid apartment in a residential complex, and yeah, there’s a pool and the wifi works perfectly fine.

The location in La Californie is actually pretty smart if you know Cannes at all. You’re up on Avenue Montrose, which puts you in this quieter residential pocket that feels worlds away from the madness down by the Croisette, but you can still walk to the action in about 15 minutes (or grab the bus if you’re feeling lazy). What I really loved is that you’re staying where actual people live – there’s a little bakery around the corner where the guy behind the counter definitely doesn’t speak tourist English, and you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard some evenings. It’s that authentic French living experience without paying resort prices. The pool area gets decent sun in the afternoons, and I noticed it stays pretty quiet even during festival season since most tourists don’t even know this neighborhood exists.

Here’s the thing about staying in a residence like this – it’s not going to wow you with fancy lobby marble or concierge service, but everything just works. The apartment itself is clean and practical, parking wasn’t a nightmare (which, if you’ve driven in Cannes, you know is basically a miracle), and the check-in was refreshingly straightforward.
