The owner clearly knows the building inside and out – check-in was smooth, and they had all these little local tips written down, like which boulangerie opens earliest (crucial information, honestly) and when the church bells are loudest.

What really got me was the location intelligence of staying here. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk uphill from all the Cannes madness, but you can duck back to your quiet street whenever the crowds get overwhelming. Le Suquet has this amazing evening vibe too – once the day-trippers head back down the hill, it becomes this intimate neighborhood where you’ll find locals having pastis at tiny cafés. The climb up can be a bit much if you’ve been walking all day (those cobblestones aren’t exactly flip-flop friendly), but there’s something satisfying about earning your way home. Plus, the views as you walk up – I mean, you start seeing glimpses of the bay between buildings, and by the time you’re near the apartment, you realize you’re actually staying in the postcard part of the city. It’s the kind of place where you’ll probably extend your stay if you can, because hotel rooms start feeling pretty soulless after you’ve experienced living like a local in the heart of old Cannes.
