— The hotel
Appartement 2 pièces à Cannes
Honestly, when I first walked up to this little two-room apartment on Boulevard Eugène Tripet, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s not exactly screaming luxury from the outside. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you, and this spot absolutely delivered on that front.
The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood. You’re right in Pointe Croisette, which means you can walk to the famous Croisette boulevard in about ten minutes, but – and this is key – you’re far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of tourists and traffic that can drive you crazy if you’re trying to actually relax. The building sits on a quieter stretch where you’ll see more locals heading to the morning market than cruise ship crowds, which I loved. There’s this little boulangerie just around the corner (I think it’s on Rue d’Antibes?) where the owner definitely remembers your order after the second day – that kind of neighborhood feel you don’t always get in Cannes.
What really got me about this place was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The two rooms flow together naturally, and there’s actually decent storage space, which anyone who’s stayed in European apartments knows is basically a miracle. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s got everything you need if you want to grab some fresh stuff from the Marché Forville and cook at home – honestly, after a few days of restaurant meals, having that option was perfect. The windows let in great morning light, and while you’re not getting dramatic sea views, you do get glimpses of everyday Cannes life, which I found way more charming than staring at another hotel balcony. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward key-passing dance you sometimes get with apartment rentals.
I stayed during shoulder season in early October, so I can’t speak to what it’s like during the festival madness, but the building itself was pretty quiet. You’ll hear the occasional scooter (it’s France, after all), but nothing that kept me up at night. The neighborhood feels safe for walking around after dinner, and there’s decent parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in Cannes – though honestly, once you’re settled here, you probably won’t need a car much. That 9.5 rating makes total sense to me because this place just works. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does offer – comfort, location, that lived-in feeling that makes you want to stay longer – it does really well.
