— The hotel
Appartement centre cannes croisette / palais festival
You know what struck me first about this place? The address – 42 Rue des Serbes – puts you right in that sweet spot where you’re actually living like a local in Cannes, not just passing through. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Palais des Festivals (yeah, where they do the film festival thing), but you’re on this quiet residential street where real people actually live and work.
The apartment itself is honestly better than I expected for a 3-star place. It’s got that lived-in feel without being worn down, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has proper equipment – not just those sad little hotel coffee makers – and the owner clearly knows what travelers need because there’s decent wifi, blackout curtains that actually block light, and outlets where you need them. The 9.3 rating isn’t just people being nice; it’s because the details work. I stayed during Cannes Lions week (which is basically when every advertising person in the world descends on the city), and while hotels were charging absolutely insane rates, this felt like getting insider access to the real Cannes.
What I really appreciated was being able to walk down to the Croisette for my morning coffee – there’s this little café on Boulevard de la Croisette where the locals go, about five minutes away – then come back and actually relax in a space that doesn’t feel like a hotel room. The building’s got that classic French apartment feel, solid walls so you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway, and honestly the street’s quiet enough that you can sleep with windows open when the weather’s nice. Parking’s always tricky in this part of Cannes, but the owner gives you proper directions to the nearest garage, and it’s walkable from there. During festival season you’ll pay through the nose for parking anywhere, but the rest of the year it’s totally manageable. The grocery store situation is perfect too – there’s a decent Monoprix just a few blocks over on Rue d’Antibes where you can grab actual food, not just tourist snacks.
