Appartement les pieds dans l’eau
You know what really surprised me about Appartement les pieds dans l’eau? The name actually delivers on its promise – you literally have your feet in the water, or at least close enough that you can hear the Mediterranean lapping against the shore from your window. I mean, when you’re staying right on Boulevard du Midi, you’re basically sleeping on Cannes’ doorstep, but somehow this little apartment on the first floor feels like a secret hideaway.
The thing about this place – and I learned this the hard way during my stay – is that it’s positioned perfectly between the madness of the Croisette and the more authentic side of Cannes that most tourists miss completely. You’re literally a five-minute walk from all the fancy boutiques and that famous red carpet energy, but when you come home in the evening, you get this completely different vibe. The building itself is pretty unassuming from the street (I actually walked past it twice looking for the entrance), but once you’re up on that first floor in apartment 203, the view opens up and suddenly you understand why this place has a perfect 10 rating.
What really sold me, honestly, was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central. I was expecting noise – I mean, it’s Cannes in summer – but there’s something about the way the building sits that shields you from most of the Boulevard chaos. The locals clearly know about this spot too; I kept seeing the same faces at the little café downstairs, and the woman at the tabac across the street started recognizing me by day three. That’s always a good sign, right? The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile – you know those vacation rentals that are so pristine they make you nervous to touch anything? This isn’t that. It’s comfortable in the way that makes you want to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it. And parking – well, let’s just say having Louise Moreau as part of the address helps locals give you directions, but you’ll want to sort out where you’re leaving your car ahead of time because this isn’t exactly suburban driveway territory. The whole experience just felt more genuine than those massive resort hotels where you could be anywhere in the world. Here, you wake up and you’re definitely in the South of France.
