— The hotel
Appartement montfleury, 2 terrasses, 2 chambres , 2 sdb , pkg privé piscine, 15 min walk to Croisette beach and Palais des festivals
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw this apartment listing with that ridiculously long name, I almost scrolled past it. But I’m so glad I didn’t, because this place turned out to be exactly what Cannes should be about, minus the tourist circus.
The location is actually perfect if you know anything about Cannes. You’re up in La Californie, which sounds fancy but really just means you’re on the hillside where actual people live, not just cruise ship crowds taking selfies. The 15-minute walk to the Croisette is no joke – it’s a proper walk, but honestly? It’s the best part of staying here. You wind down through these quiet residential streets, past old villas with their shutters still closed at 10 AM, and suddenly you’re at the beach. Going back up after a long day… well, that’s when you appreciate having two terraces to collapse on.
And those terraces – they’re not some tiny afterthought balconies. The morning one catches the sun perfectly with your coffee, and the evening one is where you’ll end up spending way too much time with a glass of wine, watching the lights come on across the bay. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, not a sterile rental. Two proper bedrooms, two full bathrooms (thank god, because sharing one bathroom on vacation is relationship suicide), and the private parking is honestly worth its weight in gold. You know how impossible parking is in Cannes during festival season? This solves that nightmare completely.
The pool area is shared, but it never felt crowded when I was there in late spring. There’s something really nice about having that option without the pool being right outside your door – you get the best of both worlds. The whole building has this relaxed residential vibe that’s completely different from the hotel scene down by the port. You’ll hear roosters in the morning instead of revving Ferraris, which depending on your mood, is either charming or slightly annoying.
What really sold me on this place is how it sits right in that sweet spot between being close enough to walk to all the action but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. The Palais des Festivals is about the same distance as the beach – totally doable on foot, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of staying right in the thick of it. Plus, there’s a little grocery store about halfway down the hill that becomes your best friend for morning pastries and evening wine runs.
The 9.2 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be some luxury hotel experience – it’s just a really well-thought-out apartment in a genuinely good location, run by people who seem to actually care about the details. The kind of place where the Wi-Fi works, the shower has proper pressure, and you find yourself already planning when you can come back before you’ve even left.
