Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places along the Côte d’Azur, but this apartment on Rue d’Antibes really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. You know how most “sea view” places show you a tiny sliver of blue between buildings if you crane your neck just right? Well, this isn’t one of those. The view from this place actually delivers, and I mean properly delivers. You’re looking out over the Mediterranean from what feels like your own private perch above all the Cannes madness.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without feeling like you’re camping on the Croisette with all the tourists. Rue d’Antibes runs parallel to the famous waterfront strip, but it’s where the locals actually shop and eat – you’ll find proper bakeries, that little wine shop the hotel concierges never mention, and cafés where you won’t pay €8 for an espresso. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk to the beach, but you can also grab groceries at Monoprix without fighting through crowds of people taking selfies. The Gray d’Albion complex itself has this sort of understated elegance that screams old-school Cannes money rather than flashy nouveau riche – think clean lines and marble, not gold fixtures and velvet everywhere.

What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, especially considering you’re right in the city center. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a rental – there’s actual character here, proper kitchen equipment (not those sad hotel kitchenettes with one dull knife), and the kind of linens that make you want to extend your stay. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s those little details that add up. Good water pressure, reliable WiFi, air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and – this might sound weird but it matters – really good blackout curtains for when you want to sleep off a long night in the old town. During festival season this place would be worth its weight in gold, honestly, because you get all the convenience of being central without the circus atmosphere of the beachfront hotels. Even in regular summer months, you’ll appreciate being able to walk to everything while having a proper retreat to come back to.
