— The hotel
Azur Studios Cannes
I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much from Azur Studios when I first walked down Rue George Clemenceau. It’s tucked between some pretty ordinary storefronts, and from the outside, you’d never guess it’s consistently pulling 9.2 ratings. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you.
The whole setup is refreshingly straightforward – these are proper studios, not tiny hotel rooms pretending to have kitchenettes. I mean, you’ve got actual counter space and a fridge that doesn’t sound like it’s dying every twenty minutes. The staff actually remembers your name after day two, which honestly feels rare these days. What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the Croisette madness. The windows are surprisingly good at blocking out the street noise – and trust me, Clemenceau can get pretty busy during the day with locals cutting through to avoid the tourist crowds on the main drag.
Location-wise, this is where staying here gets interesting. You’re close enough to walk to the Palais des Festivals without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the waterfront that you’re not paying those insane beachfront prices for everything. There’s this little boulangerie about two blocks down that the hotel folks will quietly point you toward – locals line up there every morning, which is always a good sign. The Forville market is maybe a ten-minute walk if you want to grab some actual groceries instead of surviving on hotel breakfast and overpriced café food. Parking can be tricky (it’s Cannes, so that’s pretty much a given), but they’ll sort you out with directions to the closest public garage that won’t completely destroy your budget. I stayed during shoulder season in late April, and honestly, that felt like perfect timing – warm enough for the beach, but the crowds hadn’t hit full summer craziness yet. The whole area has this laid-back vibe where you can actually hear yourself think, which is exactly what I needed after a few days of festival chaos.
