B&B HOTEL Cannes La Bocca Plage
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to B&B HOTEL Cannes La Bocca Plage on avenue des Arlucs, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those modest expectations work in your favor. This spot actually surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s tucked into La Bocca, which – if you’re not familiar with Cannes – is basically the locals’ neighborhood, away from all the Croisette madness but still close enough that you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere.
The thing about this hotel is that it gets the basics really, really right. The rooms are clean (I mean spotless), the beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept well despite being maybe 200 meters from the beach, and honestly, the staff seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just going through the motions. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night – La Bocca doesn’t have that party-until-4am vibe that central Cannes can have during festival season. You’ll hear the occasional train since the station’s nearby, but it’s more of a gentle rumble than anything disruptive. The beach access is the real winner here though. I mean, you walk out the front door, cross avenue des Arlucs, and boom – you’re on actual sand within two minutes. Not the fancy private beach club sand where you need to drop €30 for a lounger, but proper public beach where locals bring their kids and play pétanque in the evenings.
Here’s what sealed it for me: the area around the hotel feels authentically French in a way that touristy Cannes sometimes doesn’t. There’s a little boulangerie about 50 meters down the street where the woman behind the counter remembered my coffee order by day three (café au lait, pain au chocolat – I’m predictable like that). The Marché Forville is a quick bus ride away if you want to do the whole French market experience, but honestly, just wandering around La Bocca gives you that neighborhood feel without trying too hard. Parking was surprisingly easy too – there’s street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Cannes will appreciate. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me because while it’s not luxury, it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who needs marble bathrooms and turndown service, look elsewhere. But if you want a solid base for exploring Cannes without paying Croisette prices, and you actually prefer staying where real people live rather than in a tourist bubble, this place hits the mark perfectly.
