Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places along the Croisette, but there’s something refreshingly honest about Villa Francia that actually made me want to come back. It’s tucked away on Avenue Amiral Wester Wemyss – honestly, I had to ask a local how to pronounce that street name – but once you find it, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something good. The apartment has that lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake, you know? Air conditioning that actually works (trust me, this matters in July), and the sea view isn’t some tiny sliver you have to crane your neck to see. From the balcony, you’re looking out over the Mediterranean with the Îles de Lérins floating in the distance like something from a postcard, except it’s real and it’s yours for however long you’re staying.

What I really appreciated was how the place feels like an actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen is properly equipped – I mean, you can actually cook a decent meal if you want to skip the €40 restaurant tabs for a night. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with French pillows all night, and the bathroom had proper water pressure, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow always is. The neighborhood itself is brilliant because you’re close enough to walk to all the fancy bits of Cannes – the Palais des Festivals is maybe fifteen minutes on foot – but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant chaos of tourists and street performers at all hours. I actually enjoyed my morning coffee on the balcony without someone trying to sell me a knockoff Rolex, which felt like a small miracle.

The owner clearly knows what they’re doing, and check-in was surprisingly smooth for a place that doesn’t have a front desk. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – this is Cannes, after all, where finding a spot is basically a competitive sport – but there are options nearby if you’re willing to walk a few blocks. The 8.4 rating makes perfect sense to me because while it’s not trying to be the Carlton or the Martinez, it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. You get the Cannes experience, the sea views, the French Riviera lifestyle, but at a price point that won’t make you question your life choices. I’d definitely stay here again, especially during the shoulder seasons when the weather’s still gorgeous but the crowds have thinned out a bit.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Cannes at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak May festival season when the city hosts its world-famous cinema celebrations.

  Le logement est bien agencé, agréable pour 4, très bien situé . La piscine est superbe et les enfants se sont régalés lors de temps morts. Nous avons apprécié notre prise en charge par la personne nous ayant accueilli. Je recommande !

  What could be improved: Nie wystarczy zmienić poszewek na pościel, trzeb PRAĆ kołdry i poduszki, nasze były śmierdzące. Brakowało poszwy na kołdrę i nie udało się jej otrzymać pomimo kolejnych ponagleń. Jakość sprzątania pozostawia wiele do życzenia.
