You know what caught me off guard about the Carré d’or Duplex? Walking up to this place on Rue Gérard Monod, I was expecting another cramped Cannes apartment, but honestly – the duplex setup actually gives you room to breathe. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of everything here, maybe a three-minute walk to the Palais des Festivals if you’re feeling leisurely about it, but the layout makes it feel less like you’re camping in someone’s closet.

The location is sort of perfect if you know Cannes at all. You’re tucked just off the main tourist crush but still close enough that you can stumble back from a late dinner on Rue d’Antibes without calling an Uber. What I really liked – and this might sound weird – is that you can actually hear the city humming around you, but it’s not that awful street-level chaos you get closer to La Croisette. The duplex thing means you’ve got separation between your sleeping space and living area, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re trying to decompress after a day of festival madness or just regular Cannes overwhelm.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t going to blow your mind with luxury touches or anything. It’s solidly three-star, and the 7.7 rating feels about right. The Welcome to Cannes management does their job well enough; check-in was straightforward, everything worked like it should. But what makes it worth booking is really about the space and the spot. You’ve got actual room to spread out (rare in central Cannes), you’re walking distance to everything that matters – the old port, the beaches, those little side streets where locals actually eat – and you’re not paying Majestic prices for the privilege. I found myself using the living area in the evenings, which never happens in regular hotel rooms where you’re basically stuck on the bed watching French TV. The kitchen setup is basic but functional if you want to grab stuff from the Monoprix and not eat every meal out, though let’s be honest, you’re in Cannes so you probably will anyway. Would I stay here again? Yeah, actually I would – especially during festival season when everything else is either booked solid or priced like they’re selling organs.

  What could be improved: Відсутні ліфта, останній поверх, досить спекотно, постійно працюють кондиціонери, якщо включати пральну машину або духовку, постійно вибиває світло. Без кондиціонера прожити неможливо.
