Central -300m Palais- Seaview-A/C-WIFI-spacieux
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name is honestly terrible – “Central -300m Palais- Seaview-A/C-WIFI-spacieux” sounds like someone threw keywords into a blender – but don’t let that fool you because this spot is actually fantastic. I mean, Boulevard d’Alsace isn’t the most glamorous address in Cannes, but that’s exactly why it works. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Palais des Festivals (hence that awkward “300m” in the name), but you’re not paying those insane Croisette prices or dealing with the constant circus of tourists snapping selfies outside your window.
The rooms are genuinely spacious, which is rare in Cannes unless you’re dropping serious cash. I stayed here during the film festival madness last year and honestly couldn’t believe the space – you can actually open your suitcase without doing yoga moves around the bed. The sea view isn’t going to make you weep with joy or anything, but on a clear morning with your coffee, you get these nice glimpses of the Mediterranean between the buildings. The air conditioning actually works (not always a given in older French hotels), and the WiFi is solid throughout the building. I spent hours video calling from the room without issues, which saved me from camping out in hotel lobbies like I usually do.
What really sold me was the neighborhood vibe. The Carnot area has this lived-in feel that the fancy waterfront blocks lack – there’s a little boulangerie around the corner where locals actually shop, not just tourists buying overpriced croissants. You’re close enough to walk to all the action on La Croisette, but when you want to escape the Cannes bubble, you can just… walk home. Parking isn’t included, but there’s a public garage nearby that won’t bankrupt you like the valet services at the palace hotels. The front desk staff seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just going through the motions – they gave me actual restaurant recommendations, not just the touristy spots that probably give them kickbacks. That 9.3 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. It’s not trying to be the Martinez or the Carlton, and that’s exactly why it works so well.
