Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of apartments in Cannes over the years, and this little place on rue des Halles honestly surprised me. You know what hit me first? The smell of fresh bread and produce wafting up from the Forville Market downstairs – I mean, you’re literally sleeping above one of the best food markets on the French Riviera. That 9.5 rating isn’t just for show.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – sleeps four without anyone fighting over space, which is saying something for Cannes where most places feel like shoeboxes. What I really loved though was stepping out the front door at 7 AM and being right there when the vendors are setting up their stalls. The market runs Tuesday through Sunday (closes Monday, just so you know), and honestly, watching the organized chaos of setup while sipping coffee from the little café next door became my morning ritual. You’re also about a three-minute walk from rue d’Antibes if you need proper shopping, and the Palais des Festivals is close enough that you can actually hear the buzz during festival season – though it never got annoyingly loud, even with the windows open.

Here’s the thing about staying in the city center that most people don’t realize until they’re here: parking is absolutely brutal during peak season (May through September, really), but there’s a public garage on rue Louis Blanc that’s maybe a five-minute walk. The building itself is typical old Cannes – you’ll hear your upstairs neighbors occasionally, and the stairs are, well, French apartment stairs – but the character more than makes up for it. The owner was super responsive when I had questions, and check-in was smooth even though I arrived later than planned. What really sold me was how the place felt lived-in rather than sterile – proper kitchen equipment, decent WiFi, and those little touches like local guidebooks and market shopping bags that show someone actually cares. If you’re planning to spend your days on the Croisette beaches (about a ten-minute walk), this works perfectly as a home base, but honestly, you might find yourself hanging around the neighborhood more than expected just soaking up the real Cannes vibe.
