— The hotel
Croisette Star – Bd Croisette
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Croisette Star sitting right there on Boulevard de la Croisette, I thought “this has got to be a tourist trap.” I mean, you’re literally on THE street in Cannes, the one where all the festival madness happens, surrounded by those massive luxury hotels that cost more per night than most people’s rent. But here’s the thing that surprised me – this little 3-star actually gets it right.
The location is genuinely ridiculous in the best way possible. You walk out the front door and you’re already on the Croisette, which means the beach is about a 30-second stroll (no exaggeration). The Palais des Festivals is practically next door – I timed it once and it’s literally a 3-minute walk. What I love is that you can duck into all those fancy beach clubs and restaurants, then retreat back to your room without the fancy price tag following you. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds obvious but trust me, it’s not always the case. They’ll tell you which café has the best morning coffee (hint: skip the touristy spots right on the strip) and when to avoid the crowds during festival season.
The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re clean and comfortable, and honestly, who cares when you’ve got the Mediterranean right outside? The air conditioning works properly – crucial during those sweltering July weeks when Cannes turns into an oven. I actually appreciated that they didn’t try to be something they’re not. No pretentious minimalist nonsense or fake luxury touches. Just a solid place to sleep after spending your day wandering around the old town (Le Suquet is maybe a 15-minute walk if you take the scenic route along the port).
Here’s what I didn’t expect – the noise situation is totally manageable. Yeah, you’re on a busy boulevard, but the windows are decent and once you’re inside, it’s surprisingly quiet. Though I’ll warn you, if you’re here during the film festival in May, all bets are off. The whole street turns into a circus, but that’s part of the fun if you’re into that scene. Parking is exactly what you’d expect in central Cannes (expensive and scarce), so maybe think twice about driving unless you absolutely have to. The train station is close enough that you can easily day-trip to Nice or Monaco without dealing with a car anyway.
What really sold me on this place is that it doesn’t pretend to be fancy, but it nails the basics while putting you right in the heart of everything. You know those moments when you’re traveling and you realize you’ve found exactly what you needed without paying for a bunch of stuff you didn’t want? That’s Croisette Star. Perfect for people who want to experience Cannes properly without blowing their entire budget on accommodation.
