The address says “Grand appartement de style” and honestly, that’s not marketing fluff – it actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s really well-appointed Cannes apartment rather than a typical hotel room. I mean, Boulevard Montfleury isn’t one of those streets tourists usually stumble onto, which is exactly why I loved it.

The La Californie neighborhood is this sort of hidden gem that locals know about but doesn’t get the crazy Croisette crowds. You’re up on the hill overlooking the bay – and I’m talking about real views here, not just glimpses between buildings. The walk down to the main action takes maybe 15 minutes if you’re leisurely about it, but honestly, after a day of dealing with the festival chaos or beach crowds, coming back up to this quieter pocket feels like a total reset. There’s this little bakery on the way that does incredible pain au chocolat (opens at 6:30 AM if you’re an early riser), and the neighbors actually nod hello instead of rushing past you.

What really got me was the attention to detail inside – whoever set this place up actually thinks about how people live, not just sleep. The kitchen isn’t just for show; you can actually cook a proper meal if you want to skip the €40 tourist dinners down by the port. The bathroom has decent water pressure, which sounds silly until you’ve stayed in enough European places where the shower feels like a gentle mist. And the bed? Look, I’m picky about mattresses, but I slept better here than I have in some five-star places. The whole setup just feels… settled, I guess. Like someone lives here and cares about the space. You don’t get that sterile hotel smell or those scratchy sheets that feel like they’ve been washed a thousand times. Even the WiFi works properly throughout the apartment, which is more than I can say for half the places I’ve stayed in Cannes. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re planning to be out super late every night, the hill climb back up might feel a bit much after a long evening – but there are taxis, and honestly, the peaceful mornings up there more than make up for it.

  The location was amazing. Super quiet, since it's 10 minutes away from the beach and the more busy streets, which is no problem to do by foot at all. Not only that, but you have "Intermarché" 2 minutes away and are relatively close to the train station, so it was great to also know other places. The landlord was very welcoming and nice to us, and the apartment made our stay in Cannes much better.
