— The hotel
Ibis croisette
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Ibis Croisette, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star chain hotel. But you know what? Sometimes being wrong feels pretty good. This place sits right on Boulevard de la Croisette, which means you’re literally steps from that famous Cannes promenade where all the film festival madness happens. I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and onto the palm-lined walkway where paparazzi camp out during festival season.
What actually surprised me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth – no weird hidden fees or that awkward dance where they try to upsell you to death. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from Ibis (clean, functional, nothing fancy) but honestly, that’s not why you’re here. You’re paying for the location, and man, is it worth it. I could hear the Mediterranean lapping against the shore from my window, which is something you definitely don’t get at those budget places tucked away in the hills behind the city. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you realize you’re getting prime real estate without the four-star price tag.
Here’s the thing about staying right on the Croisette – mornings are magical. Before the crowds descend and the beach clubs start thumping their music, you can actually enjoy a peaceful walk along the water. The hotel’s right in the thick of everything, so you’ll hear some street noise (it’s a major boulevard, after all), but it dies down surprisingly well at night. Parking can be a bit of a headache during peak season – I ended up using the public garage a block away, which wasn’t terrible but definitely something to factor in. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to Marché Forville in about ten minutes for those amazing morning pastries, or stroll down to the old port area without needing a taxi. Plus, if you’re here during festival time (good luck getting a room then), you’re literally in the center of all the action. Even in the off-season, there’s something pretty special about having coffee on the Croisette and watching the locals do their morning jogs while yachts bob in the harbor. It’s not luxury, but it’s authentic Cannes living without breaking the bank.
