Le Concorde – Charmant appt avec terrasse
Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first saw “Le Concorde” on Boulevard Alexandre III, I almost walked past it thinking it was just another apartment building. But that’s actually part of its charm, you know? This place sits right in Pointe Croisette (which, if you’re not familiar with Cannes, is basically the sweet spot between the famous Croisette strip and the quieter residential areas), and it feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed flat than some stuffy hotel. The terrace – and I mean this – is what sold me completely. You’re literally a five-minute walk from all the Croisette madness, but when you step out onto that little outdoor space with your morning coffee, it’s surprisingly peaceful. Well, until around 9 AM when the city properly wakes up, but honestly, that’s part of the Cannes experience.
What I really appreciate about this spot is how it gets the balance right. The apartment itself has that French casual elegance thing going on – not trying too hard, but everything feels thoughtfully put together. The kitchen actually works (I mean, you can cook a proper meal if you want to save some euros), and there’s enough space to spread out without feeling like you’re living in each other’s pockets. The 3-star rating might make you think it’s basic, but it’s more about not having a concierge and fancy lobby than lacking comfort. Boulevard Alexandre III can get a bit busy during festival season – just so you know – but the double-glazed windows do their job pretty well. I stayed here in July, which is peak madness time, and while you definitely hear the city humming, it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you up at night.
Here’s the thing that really matters though – the location is genuinely brilliant without being ridiculously expensive like some of the beachfront places. You can walk to Plage du Martinez in about eight minutes (I timed it), hit the morning market at Marché Forville if you’re up for it, and you’re close enough to the train station that day trips to Nice or Monaco are totally doable. The 7.7 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The terrace alone makes it worth booking, especially if you’re traveling with someone and want a bit of outdoor space to start your day or wind down with a glass of wine. Just pack light if you can – there’s no elevator and depending on which floor you get, those stairs can be a bit of a workout with heavy luggage.
