— The hotel
Le Delacroix 2 By SCLS Locations
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address for Le Delacroix 2, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s basically a residential apartment building turned hotel situation on Avenue Amiral Wester Wemyss, which sounds fancy but is actually just a quiet street about a 10-minute walk from the main Cannes action. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it work.
The thing about this place is that it feels like you’re staying in someone’s actual apartment – because, well, you sort of are. Apartment 0181 in the Delacroix building has been converted into hotel space, and honestly, it’s refreshing after all those cookie-cutter chain hotels. The neighborhood is properly residential, so you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos that hits the areas closer to the Palais des Festivals. I mean, you can still hear the occasional delivery truck in the morning (it’s France, after all), but it’s nothing compared to the street noise you’d get near the Croisette. The walk down to the famous waterfront is actually pretty pleasant – you pass by some local cafés and shops that don’t have English menus, which I always take as a good sign.
What surprised me most was how the space felt both practical and comfortable without trying too hard. The furnishings aren’t Instagram-perfect, but everything works properly – decent wifi, good water pressure, air conditioning that actually cools the place down (crucial in summer). Storage space is better than most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, probably because it was designed as an actual living space first. The 3-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and clean with everything you need. I particularly appreciated having a proper kitchenette area, especially since eating out for every meal in Cannes can absolutely destroy your budget. There’s a Monoprix about five minutes away if you want to grab some basics, and the morning bakery run becomes part of your routine pretty quickly. The 7.8 rating makes sense too – it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s really nothing to complain about either. Check-in was straightforward, though you might want to confirm the exact building entrance beforehand since it’s not immediately obvious from the street. The whole experience just feels more authentic than staying in the hotel district, like you’re actually living in Cannes for a few days rather than just visiting it.
