You know what struck me first about Les Orangers? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street just off the main tourist chaos, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in Cannes. Rue Joseph Flory isn’t one of those streets tourists typically wander down – it’s mostly locals heading to the little boulangerie on the corner or walking their dogs. The hotel itself has this sort of understated charm that grows on you. I mean, it’s not trying to be the Carlton or anything flashy, but there’s something refreshing about a place that just focuses on getting the basics really right. The building has that classic French architecture you’d expect, with those green shutters that actually work (I tested them – perfect for blocking out the morning sun if you’ve had a long night on the Croisette).

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. The woman at reception – I think her name was Sophie – didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist spots but mentioned this little wine bar about five minutes away that I never would have found otherwise. The rooms are comfortable without being fancy, which honestly felt perfect after spending days around all the over-the-top glamour Cannes is famous for. The AC works well (crucial in summer), and the shower pressure is surprisingly good for an older building. I stayed on the second floor and could hear a bit of street noise in the early morning, but nothing that would wake you up unless you’re an incredibly light sleeper. The WiFi was solid throughout the building, which I actually appreciated more than I expected – uploading photos from the beach without having to hunt for a café with decent internet.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk to the Palais des Festivals, but here’s the thing – it’s an easy ten minutes through actual neighborhoods where people live and work, not just tourist-trap restaurants and souvenir shops. There’s a small grocery store literally around the corner, and the bus stop on Avenue de Grasse is super convenient if you want to explore beyond the city center without dealing with parking (which, let’s be honest, is a nightmare during festival season). The price point makes sense for what you get – it’s not the cheapest option in town, but you’re paying for that sweet spot between location and value that’s actually pretty hard to find in Cannes. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel like I was experiencing the city rather than just visiting it.

Early hotels booking in Cannes is essential during major events like the Film Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned glamorous atmosphere and luxury shopping.

  A spacious apartment in a quiet but convenient location. The decor isn't fancy but it is comfortable and very well equipped with tea, coffee, shampoo etc provided. We also liked the large outdoor area.

  It was easy, but it was very dark outside and if you arrive late at night alone it is not exactly easy
