Walking into what I expected to be just another Cannes rental and finding myself in this surprisingly sleek loft that actually feels like someone with decent taste designed it. The Loft moderne sits on Boulevard Montfleury – and if you’re not familiar with this part of Cannes, it’s in La Californie, which honestly sounds fancier than it is, but it’s got this nice residential vibe that’s way more chill than the chaos down by the Croisette.

The loft itself is one of those spaces that photographs well and actually delivers in person, which – let’s be real – doesn’t always happen. Clean lines, good lighting, and they’ve managed to fit everything you need without it feeling cramped. The kitchen’s actually functional (I mean, you can cook a proper meal here, not just heat up croissants), and the sleeping area doesn’t feel like an afterthought. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Boulevard Montfleury isn’t one of those streets where you’re dealing with party crowds stumbling back from the clubs at 3 AM. Though I should mention, if you’re planning to walk everywhere, you’ll get your steps in. It’s about a 20-minute walk down to the main action around the Palais des Festivals, but honestly, that can be a blessing during festival season when the center turns into absolute madness.

Here’s the thing about staying in La Californie – you get to feel like you’re living in Cannes rather than just visiting it. There’s a little market on Rue d’Antibes that’s perfect for grabbing fresh stuff for breakfast, and the beach at Plage du Midi is actually less crowded than the ones everyone talks about. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid, well-maintained, and the kind of place where everything just works. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Cannes), but the host was pretty helpful with suggestions. If you’re coming during the film festival or summer peak season, book this early because these kinds of properly designed spaces that aren’t ridiculously overpriced get snapped up fast. For what you pay, especially considering you’re still in Cannes proper and not stuck out in some suburb, it’s a pretty decent deal.

  What could be improved: The stairs to the loft are dangerous. The railing is broken, the steps are small and you have to duck down or you will hit your head. The neighborhood was not good for solo female or elderly traveler. I left after the first night when I had booked 2 nights.

  Antoine le propriétaire ainsi que Vanessa la gestionnaire sont très disponibles et arrangeants. Le logement est grand, joliment décoré et propre. L'emplacement est très bon, à proximité à pied du centre, de la Croisette.et de tout centre d'intérêt.

  Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Cannes dans cet appartement idéalement situé, à deux pas de tout : plage, restaurants, commerces… L’appartement était impeccablement propre, très bien équipé et vraiment agréable à vivre. Un grand merci à notre hôte, particulièrement accueillante et attentionnée, qui a su rendre notre séjour encore plus plaisant. Nous recommandons vivement cette location et y reviendrons avec plaisir !
