— The hotel
Mi Casa Tu Casa – PG
You know what caught me off guard about Mi Casa Tu Casa? The name made me expect some kitschy theme hotel, but honestly, this place gets the balance just right. It’s tucked away in La Californie – which, if you don’t know Cannes, is this residential area that feels worlds apart from the festival madness down by the Palais. I mean, you’re still only about 15 minutes from the Croisette if you’re walking (or 5 in a taxi), but up here on Avenue Prince de Galles, it actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s neighborhood rather than tourist central.
The building itself has that classic French villa vibe – nothing too fancy, but there’s something genuine about it that I really appreciated. Walking in, you get this immediate sense that they’re not trying to impress you with marble lobbies or whatever, they just want you to feel comfortable. The staff actually remembers your name after day one, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dragging yourself back after a long day exploring. And speaking of exploring – here’s the thing about this location that took me a while to figure out: you’re positioned perfectly for both worlds. Want the beach scene? Head downhill. Want to see how actual Cannes residents live? Just wander the streets around here. There’s this little bakery maybe two blocks away where I swear I was the only tourist all week.
What really sold me on the place was the practical stuff that travel sites never mention. Parking – yeah, you can actually find it here, unlike down in the old town where you’re circling blocks forever. The rooms are properly quiet at night because you’re away from the main drag, but not so isolated that you feel disconnected. I stayed in spring when things weren’t peak crazy, and honestly, I think that’s the sweet spot for this area anyway. The whole La Californie neighborhood has these tree-lined streets and you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of just traffic. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but for what it is, they really nail it. The kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you realize you’ve found that rare thing: a hotel that feels like a home base rather than just somewhere to crash.
Cannes hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Le Suquet district to elegant palace hotels and modern luxury accommodations along La Croisette Boulevard.
