— The hotel
Nehô Suites Cannes Croisette
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Nehô Suites on rue Latour Maubourg, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow street entrance. But here’s the thing about Cannes: some of the best spots are tucked away where you’d least expect them, and this place actually gets that right.
The location is what really sold me on this hotel. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Croisette – I mean, you can practically smell the sea air from the lobby – but you’re not dealing with the constant chaos of being right on the main drag. That street noise that keeps you up at 2 AM when cruise ship passengers are stumbling back to their rooms? Yeah, you won’t get that here. Rue Latour Maubourg is just quiet enough to let you sleep, but you can still walk to Plage du Martinez in your flip-flops without breaking a sweat. The Palais des Festivals is maybe seven minutes on foot, which honestly saved me a fortune in taxi rides during my stay.
What I really appreciated – and this might sound weird – was how the staff actually seemed to know Cannes beyond just the tourist hotspots. The guy at reception (I think his name was Antoine?) pointed me toward this little café on rue d’Antibes that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I asked about avoiding the festival crowds, he gave me specific time windows when the streets clear out. You know what I mean? It’s that local insight you can’t get from Google. The suites themselves are pretty solid for a 4-star – nothing too fancy, but the air conditioning actually works (crucial in July), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The kitchenette is basic but functional if you want to grab some cheese and wine from the morning market at Forville and have a quiet night in.
I won’t sugarcoat it – this isn’t the Majestic or the Carlton, and the 7.7 rating feels about right. There were a few quirks, like the elevator being slower than molasses and the WiFi getting spotty on the upper floors. But here’s what matters: I felt like I was staying in Cannes, not just visiting it. The price point makes sense for what you get, especially considering you’re still in the heart of everything without paying those insane Croisette premiums. If you’re the type who wants to experience the festival buzz or beach scene but also values being able to retreat somewhere that doesn’t feel like a tourist factory, this place hits that sweet spot. Just don’t expect room service at midnight – this is more about location and authenticity than luxury amenities.
