Honestly, when I first walked into this apartment on Boulevard de la Croisette, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, three stars in Cannes usually means you’re compromising somewhere, right? But this place completely caught me off guard. The moment you step onto that little balcony, you get it. The Mediterranean stretches out in front of you like someone’s elaborate screensaver, except it’s real and you can hear the waves hitting the beach below. You know what really surprised me? How quiet it actually is inside, considering you’re literally on the Croisette – that famous palm-lined stretch where all the Festival de Cannes madness happens.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel room. The bedroom’s got this lovely light that filters in through gauzy curtains (perfect for those lazy mornings when you don’t want to deal with the Riviera sun just yet), and the little kitchenette is actually functional – not one of those sad hotel setups with a broken coffee maker. I spent most evenings out there on the terrace with a glass of wine from the Monoprix down the street, watching the sunset paint everything golden. The furnishings are simple but thoughtful, sort of that effortless French style where nothing matches perfectly but somehow it all works together. During my stay, I could walk to the Palais des Festivals in about ten minutes, and you’re right there near all those fancy boutiques if that’s your thing – though honestly, I preferred wandering over to the Marché Forville in the mornings for fresh fruit and people-watching.

What really sealed it for me was how the whole experience felt genuine rather than touristy. The building’s got character – you can tell it’s been here for decades, with that slightly worn marble in the lobby that speaks to real history rather than some sterile renovation. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not trying to be the George V or anything fancy like that, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The only tiny complaint I’d have is that the shower pressure could be stronger, but that’s pretty much par for the course in older French buildings. If you’re looking for a place where you can actually live like a local for a few days – making coffee in your own kitchen, sitting on your own slice of the Côte d’Azur – rather than just being another tourist in a generic hotel room, this is your spot. Just book early if you’re planning to visit during the film festival; this whole area gets absolutely crazy in May.

  Het appartement in zijn geheel, maar vooral de locatie en het uitzicht op de middellandse zee. Het appartement ligt op een afstand van zo'n 400 meter van het Carlton hotel en een kilometer van de oude stad.
  Veel restaurants, supermarkten, bakkerijen in de buurt. Het parkeren van de auto is in oktober niet echt een probleem.
  
  What could be improved: De tafel op het balkon is veel te groot, waardoor er weinig ruimte is om vrij te zitten. Maar verder, was eigenlijk alles prima.
