Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “NEW ! VILLA” in all caps, I thought this might be one of those overhyped vacation rentals that promises the world and delivers a glorified apartment. But honestly? BENAKEY completely changed my mind within about five minutes of walking through the door.

The thing is, Boulevard du Perier isn’t exactly the postcard part of Cannes – you’re not stumbling out onto the Croisette here – but that’s actually what makes this place work so well. You’re tucked into this residential area called Cannes Grand Parc, which I mean, sounds fancy but really just means you get actual parking (and trust me, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near central Cannes in summer, you know this is basically a miracle). The villa itself sits in this surprisingly quiet pocket where you can actually hear birds instead of constant traffic, which is wild considering you’re still technically in the city. The garden – and it’s a proper garden, not just some potted plants – has this lived-in feeling that makes you want to grab a coffee and just sit for a while.

What really got me though was how thoughtfully everything’s set up. The AC actually works (sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places in the south of France still think a ceiling fan counts as climate control), and there are these little touches that show someone actually stays here and knows what matters. Like, the swimming pool isn’t huge, but it’s positioned so you get sun most of the day without being completely exposed to the neighbors. The kitchen has real cooking equipment, not just the bare minimum, and there’s enough space that you don’t feel like you’re living on top of each other. I noticed they’ve got good WiFi too – worked perfectly for video calls, which honestly saved my trip since I had to handle some work stuff.

You know what really sealed it for me? The location is actually perfect if you want to experience Cannes without the constant tourist chaos. You’re maybe a 10-minute drive from the beach and all the glitzy stuff, but you can also walk to regular French shops and cafes where locals actually go. There’s this little boulangerie about three streets over that does incredible croissants – the kind of place you’d never find if you were staying right in the tourist zone. The bus connections are decent too if you don’t want to deal with driving everywhere, though having that guaranteed parking spot means you can actually explore the wider region without stress.

I’ll admit, it’s not the kind of place where you roll out of bed onto the beach, and if you’re looking for that classic palatial Cannes hotel experience with doormen and marble lobbies, this isn’t it. But honestly? After spending time here, I think I prefer it. It feels like staying at a really nice friend’s place who happens to live in one of the most beautiful parts of France – comfortable, unpretentious, and genuinely relaxing in a way that those big hotels never quite manage.

  Geräumiges und gut ausgestattetes Einfamilienhaus mit einem schönen Garten (Kunstrasen). Das gesamte Anwesen ebenfalls wunderschön ausgestaltet mit zwei Gemeinschaftspools, Zugang zum Gelände nur mit einen Chip/Passwort. Allerdings sehr weit vom Strand entfernt (nicht fußläufig erreichbar).

  What could be improved: Abweichende Angaben von Booking und Vermieter (Zahlung des Mietpreises und Höhe sowie Art der Zahlung der Kaution).
  
  Das Haus ist für sechs Personen, es gibt drei Schlafzimmer mit jeweis einem französischen Bett. Dieses ist jedoch für zwei schlanke Erwachsene – wie in unserem Fall – doch etwas zu schmal.
