You know what struck me first about Oasis du Sud? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel like stumbling onto something special tucked away on Avenue Saint-Nicolas. I mean, you’re still in the heart of Cannes, but there’s this surprisingly peaceful vibe that honestly caught me off guard for a 3-star place.

The setup is pretty sweet – four bedrooms, four bathrooms, which is perfect if you’re traveling with friends or family and everyone wants their own space (trust me, after a few days of festival crowds or beach adventures, you’ll appreciate not having to share a bathroom). The walk to Palais des Festivals is genuinely about ten minutes, maybe twelve if you’re taking your time and window shopping along the way. What I really loved though is how you’re positioned right in the Prado-République area – locals actually live and work here, so you get real bakeries and cafés mixed in with the tourist spots. There’s this little market on Rue Meynadier that’s maybe a five-minute detour on your way to the Palais, and honestly, grabbing fresh fruit there became part of my morning routine.

The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile – you know how some vacation rentals feel like they were decorated by someone who’s never actually stayed there? This isn’t that. The kitchen has everything you’d actually want to use (decent coffee maker, sharp knives, enough plates for everyone), and the living spaces flow together nicely without feeling cramped. I was a bit worried about noise since you’re on a main avenue, but the windows do their job – even during the craziness of festival season, nights were surprisingly quiet. The bathrooms are clean and modern, though I’ll be honest, the water pressure in the upstairs shower is better than the downstairs one. Small thing, but worth knowing if you’re particular about that stuff.

What really sets this place apart is how it lets you live like you’re actually in Cannes rather than just visiting. You can cook breakfast with ingredients from local shops, you can walk to the beach via streets that aren’t packed with tour groups, and when you need to get to the glitzy stuff – the Croisette, the festival venues, the fancy shopping – it’s all totally doable on foot. The rating of 10 might seem high for a 3-star property, but I get it. Sometimes what matters isn’t marble countertops or concierge service, it’s having a comfortable base that actually enhances your experience of being somewhere special. This place does that really well.
