— The hotel
Palm croisette front de mer1
You know what struck me first about Palm Croisette? It’s actually right there on the Boulevard de la Croisette – like, literally front row seats to all the Cannes action – but somehow it doesn’t feel chaotic inside. I mean, you step off that famous sidewalk where everyone’s posing for Instagram shots against the palm trees, walk through the entrance, and there’s this immediate sense of calm that honestly surprised me. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on, not the over-the-top glitz you might expect from a Croisette hotel. Check-in was smooth (thank god, because I’d been traveling for like 12 hours), and the staff actually seemed genuinely happy to see guests, not just going through the motions.
Here’s the thing about the location – and this is something you only appreciate once you’re there – you’re walking distance from the Palais des Festivals, obviously, but you’re also perfectly positioned for those early morning strolls along the beach before the crowds hit. I’d grab coffee from the little café next door (the one locals actually use, not the tourist traps) and just wander. The rooms face the sea, and honestly, waking up to that Mediterranean light streaming in never got old. The sound situation is interesting too – yes, you’re on the main drag, but the windows are surprisingly good at keeping things quiet at night. Though I’ll be real with you, during festival season all bets are off – the whole city basically turns into one big party. But that’s part of the charm, right?
What really sold me on this place was the details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere, not just posting about it. The shower pressure is excellent (crucial after beach days), there’s actual space to unpack your stuff, and the air conditioning works properly – which, trust me, you’ll appreciate in summer when Cannes gets properly hot. The 9.6 rating makes sense once you experience how everything just… works. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel on the strip, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you that prime Croisette address. Plus, and this might sound silly, but the elevator is fast – small thing that becomes huge when you’re running late for dinner reservations at one of those places down by the old port.
