Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Studio Carré d’Or – it’s one of those places that punches way above its weight class. When I first walked up to 21 Rue du Commandant André, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot, but this little studio apartment completely changed my mind about what you can get in Cannes without breaking the bank. The location is actually ridiculous – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally two minutes from the Croisette, which means you can stumble back from late dinners at La Palme d’Or or those beachfront bars without dealing with taxis or the chaos of the main tourist strips. The building itself sits right in the heart of Cannes City-Centre, and here’s what the booking sites don’t tell you: you’re close enough to hear the buzz of the action but far enough up (third floor) that you’re not dealing with street noise all night.
What really got me was how thoughtfully this place is set up. The studio layout actually works – I mean, studios can feel cramped and awkward, but whoever designed this space understood how people actually live and move around. There’s this natural flow from the sleeping area to the little kitchenette, and honestly, after spending days wandering around the Palais des Festivals or getting sun-drunk on the beaches, having your own quiet space to decompress is everything. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the Carlton or the Martinez, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any of the pretension. You know what I loved? The practical stuff nobody talks about. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial if you’re posting those Croisette sunset shots), the shower has decent water pressure, and the kitchenette means you can grab fresh bread from the local boulangerie and have proper coffee in the morning instead of paying €8 for hotel breakfast.
Here’s the thing about this neighborhood – you’re in the real Cannes, not just the film festival bubble. Walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll find those little bistros where locals actually eat, plus you’re close enough to the Marché Forville that you can do the whole French market experience without it feeling like a tourist performance. During festival season, you’ll pay through the nose for everything, but off-season? This place is honestly a steal for what you get. The only downside – and it’s minor – is that parking can be a nightmare during peak times, but that’s true for anywhere in central Cannes. If you’re looking for a genuine base to explore the Côte d’Azur without the resort hotel markup, this studio delivers. It feels like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment rather than some sterile hotel room, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience a place rather than just check it off a list.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Cannes through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich cinematic heritage.

Location location location! If you’re headed to any Cannes festival at the Palais or just want to be right where the party is, this is the place to be. What’s more, this room is on the back side of the building on the third floor so it’s super quiet even when people are still out. I brought earplugs and didn’t even need them. The air conditioner works GREAT and the bed is comfy. Perfect amount of space for one person, more than that you might feel cramped with your luggage because there isn’t much storage space. I would gladly stay here again. Staff was wonderful and met me right on time at the room to give me my key, and made sure everything was up and running (wifi, air con) before leaving which I appreciated.
What could be improved: Nothing.Brenda from United Kingdom – 26 September 2022 (10/10)
The location was excellent, right next to the Croisette and very central. Access to the building was very safe and even though it was on a busy road, there was no issue with unwanted noise.. The apartment was fully furnished, with extensive kitchen items too.
