Studio Grand hôtel Croisette, by Welcome to Cannes
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Studio Grand hôtel Croisette – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. When I first walked up to what looks like the Ibis entrance on boulevard de la Croisette, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. The whole “studio” concept had me thinking maybe just a basic room, but actually, this place gets it right where it matters most.
The location is what really sold me, and I mean *really* sold me. You’re literally on the Croisette – not near it, not close to it, but right there on the famous stretch. I could walk to the Palais des Festivals in maybe eight minutes (I timed it because, well, why not), and the fancy beach clubs are right across the street. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize – being this central during festival season means you’ll hear some street noise, especially weekend evenings when everyone’s heading to the clubs along the port. Honestly though, it’s part of the Cannes experience, and you can always close the windows if you need quiet.
What impressed me most was how they’ve managed to create something that feels both practical and a bit special. The studios are actually well-designed – not huge, but smart layouts that make the space work. There’s a proper kitchenette (not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation), which is clutch when you’re staying more than a couple nights and don’t want to eat out every meal. I mean, groceries from the Monoprix down on rue d’Antibes aren’t exactly cheap, but at least you can make your morning coffee without paying hotel café prices.
The staff really knows their stuff too – they’ll tell you which beaches have the best public access (hint: it’s not the ones right in front of the hotel), or where to grab decent pastries without the tourist markup. One guy at the front desk actually drew me a little map showing the shortcut to the Marché Forville, which saved me from wandering around like a lost tourist. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference, you know?
I’ll be honest about the three-star rating – don’t expect marble lobbies or turndown service. But what you get is clean, comfortable, and incredibly well-positioned. The whole Welcome to Cannes management thing works well; they seem to understand that people staying here want to be *in* Cannes, not just visiting it. During the quieter months (I was there in early October), it felt almost residential in a good way – like you’re actually living on the Croisette for a while rather than just passing through.
The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not trying to be the Martinez or the Carlton – those places are literally next door if that’s what you’re after. Instead, it delivers exactly what it promises: a smart base right in the heart of everything, run by people who actually care about making your stay work. If you want to wake up, grab coffee, and be people-watching on the Croisette within minutes, honestly, you’d be hard-pressed to find better value.
