— The hotel
Suite Riviera – Sea View – Clim – 50M Plage – Residence de standing – Spacieux 180 M2 – Parking
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places along the Côte d’Azur, and this suite on Avenue du Dr Raymond Picaud honestly surprised me. The name’s a mouthful – Suite Riviera whatever whatever – but here’s what actually matters: you get 180 square meters of space that feels more like a proper apartment than a hotel room, and you’re literally 50 meters from the beach. I mean, you can hear the waves if you open the windows, which is something you don’t get at those big chain hotels further inland.
The location is pretty smart, actually. You’re tucked away in Résidence le Rock (yeah, that’s really the name), which sits on this quieter stretch between the main Cannes chaos and La Bocca. Most tourists don’t venture down this way, so you avoid the crowds but you’re still close enough to walk to the Palais des Festivals if that’s your thing – though honestly, who wants to walk that far in the summer heat? The parking situation is what sold me, because anyone who’s tried to park in Cannes during festival season knows it’s basically impossible. Having your own spot is worth its weight in gold. The apartment itself feels genuinely spacious, not that fake “suite” nonsense where they just put a couch in the corner. You’ve got room to actually unpack and spread out, plus the air conditioning works properly – and trust me, you’ll need it from June through September. The sea view isn’t one of those “if you crane your neck and squint” situations either; you can actually see the water from the main living area.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. The residence has this solid, well-built feel – none of that paper-thin wall situation where you hear every conversation in the hallway. The only sounds you get are the waves and maybe some late-night laughter from the beach bars, but even that dies down by midnight. The 4-star rating feels right, and that 8.6 guest score makes sense when you factor in the space and location. It’s not trying to be the Carlton or the Martinez with all that over-the-top luxury, but you know what? Sometimes you just want a place that feels like home but with better views and someone else making the beds. The beach access is the real winner here – you can literally grab your coffee and be on the sand before most people have figured out how to work their hotel shower.
