Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment I walked through the door, I actually felt like I was staying at someone’s really well-appointed home rather than a typical Cannes rental. The Benakey sits on rue Stephen Liegard – and honestly, if you’re not familiar with Cannes, this is one of those quiet residential streets that locals love because you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the Croisette chaos that you can actually sleep at night.
The sea view from the main living area is the real deal, not one of those “if you crane your neck and squint” situations you sometimes get. I mean, you’re looking right out over the Mediterranean, and in the morning with coffee – there’s a proper espresso machine, thank god – it’s pretty spectacular. The three bedrooms are genuinely spacious (I’ve stayed in Cannes “apartments” that were basically glorified hotel rooms), and whoever set this place up actually thought about storage, which sounds boring but matters when you’re unpacking for more than a weekend. The AC works properly too, which in my experience isn’t always a given in French rentals, especially during those brutal July weeks when the whole Riviera turns into an oven.
What really sold me though was the garden space and – this is huge for Cannes – the dedicated parking spot. Look, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near the center during festival season or peak summer, you’ll understand why this alone justifies the rate. The garden isn’t massive, but it’s private and actually gets good morning sun, perfect for breakfast before the day heats up. The whole setup feels thoughtfully done rather than just thrown together for tourists. There are proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), the kitchen has everything you’d actually need to cook a real meal, and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every twenty minutes like some places I could mention. The walk to the Palais des Festivals takes maybe fifteen minutes if you’re strolling, five minutes to the beach if you cut through the side streets. Honestly, the location hits that sweet spot where you feel connected to everything Cannes offers without being trapped in the tourist bubble 24/7.
To book a hotel in Cannes during the famous Cannes Film Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts celebrities and film industry professionals from around the world.
