You know what struck me first about Villa Del Mar? It’s actually right where you want to be in Cannes – I mean, Boulevard Eugène Gazagnaire puts you practically on the beach in Pointe Croisette, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re stuck in the absolute chaos of the main drag. When I walked out in the morning, the Mediterranean was literally right there, and you can smell that salt air mixed with fresh croissants from the café next door.

The thing about this place is it feels more like staying at someone’s stylish beach house than a typical hotel – which honestly works in its favor. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Cannes, after all), but they’re thoughtfully done with this sort of relaxed coastal vibe that makes sense for the location. I actually appreciated that they didn’t try too hard with over-the-top luxury stuff. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had good water pressure, which… well, you’d be surprised how often that’s not a given in French hotels. What really got me was stepping onto the balcony in the evening – you get these glimpses of the water between the buildings, and when the light hits just right around sunset, it’s pretty spectacular.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to the French Riviera), but the staff actually knows the area well enough to point you toward spots that won’t cost you a fortune. The front desk team speaks decent English, which saved me from my terrible French more than once. And timing matters here – if you’re visiting during the film festival or peak summer, expect things to get pretty lively around the neighborhood. But in shoulder season? It’s got this perfect laid-back energy where you can actually enjoy walking to the Palais des Festivals without fighting crowds every step of the way. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what you want from a Cannes beach stay without the pretentious attitude you get at some of the flashier places up the coast.

  Fantastisk beliggenhet 30m fra stranda.
  Nyoppusset og moderne leilighet med stor takterasse og pent uteområde.
  Utgang fra hovedsoverom i tillegg til fra stuen.
  Koselig fortausrestaurant ved utgangen fra leiligheten.
  
  What could be improved: Renholdet ved ankomst var ikke bra nok.
  Leiligheten har 2 soverom og (en meget god) sovesofa i stua.

  Face à la mer, équipement et appartement quasi neuf, tout l’équipement nécessaire est disponible. Le propriétaire est très gentil et arrangeant.

  Wir mögen diesen Ort wirklich.
  Vor allem dieses Jahr, denn das Wetter war auch super.
  Und die Temperatur des Wassers lässt sich nicht vergleichen.
  Außerdem sind die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel ganz in der Nähe.

  Wenn es Probleme gab, wurden diese schnell behoben.
  Das Stadtzentrum ist sehr belebt und Sie müssen dies im Voraus berücksichtigen.

  Gute Lage – Strand quasi vor der Haustür. Grundsätzlich wäre das Apartment super gelegen und auch die Innenausstattung nicht schlecht. Aber die negativen Aspekte bewogen uns, frühzeitig abzureisen. Der Gastgeber hat sich immerhin damit einverstanden erklärt.
  
  What could be improved: Wir hatten Pech. Es gab ein sehr grosses Problem mit Kakerlaken – von jungen bis alten/grossen Kakerlaken – war alles da. Sie waren im gesamten Küchen- und Wohnzimmerbereich abends anzutreffen, sogar im Kühlschrank – wir trafen auf eine Kakerlaken-Party. Bei der Ankunft erschien uns das gesamte Appartement auch etwas unhygienisch, es hat Luft nach oben gehabt bezüglich Reinlichkeit: Dusche schimmlig, Haare auf dem Boden, Backofen mit schmutzigem Backblech, es roch miefig. Am Ende mussten wir aus hygienischen Gründen die Unterkunft frühzeitig verlassen.
