Look, the 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for a five-star in this exact location. It’s not the Majestic or the Carlton – those grand dame hotels down by the water – but honestly, I preferred being up here in the real Cannes. You can grab coffee at that little place next to the Marché Forville, wander through the Suquet’s winding streets, and still make it to whatever glamorous evening plans you might have. The rooms themselves have this clean, modern aesthetic with just enough French touches to remind you where you are – I’m talking quality linens and marble in the bathrooms, not kitschy Provence themes. Parking can be tricky in this area (it always is in old Cannes), but they’ve sorted something out with a nearby garage. Check-in was smooth, even during festival madness, which tells you something about how they run the place. If you want to be in Cannes but not feel like you’re staying in a tourist bubble, Villa Sephora actually delivers on that promise.
