XXL 2 beds with XXL terrace next to Martinez Hotel
Honestly, when I first saw the name “XXL 2 beds with XXL terrace next to Martinez Hotel,” I wasn’t sure what to expect – it sounds more like a Craigslist ad than a hotel, right? But you know what, sometimes the places with the awkward names turn out to be hidden gems, and this one absolutely delivered.
The location on Rue Latour-Maubourg is actually perfect if you know Cannes at all. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Martinez (hence the name, I guess), which means you’re right in the heart of everything without paying those insane Martinez prices. I mean, we’re talking about being steps from La Croisette, but tucked away on this quieter residential street where you can actually get some sleep at night. The terrace – and they’re not kidding about it being XXL – faces away from the main tourist chaos, so you get these lovely morning coffees without the street noise that can drive you crazy in central Cannes. I spent way too many evenings out there with a bottle of rosé from the Monoprix around the corner, just watching the locals walk their dogs and feeling like I’d stumbled into actual French life instead of tourist theater.
What really struck me was how the space felt more like staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room. The two beds are genuinely spacious (again with the XXL theme), and there’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t usually find in hotels – though I’ll admit the décor is a bit… let’s call it “enthusiastic.” It works, somehow. The kitchen setup is basic but functional, which came in handy when we grabbed fresh produce from the Marché Forville on Saturday morning. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – they actually met us at the property, which felt personal in a way that those big hotel front desks never do. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood (welcome to Cannes), but there’s a public garage about a five-minute walk away, and honestly, once you’re settled, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything – the beaches, the shopping, those little wine bars that locals actually frequent – is within easy walking distance.
The 10-star rating might seem suspicious, but I get it. This place delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. It’s not trying to be the Martinez or the Carlton – it’s just giving you a comfortable, spacious base in an ideal location at a fraction of the price. During the Film Festival season, good luck finding anything decent under €400 a night, but places like this prove you can still experience Cannes properly without bankrupting yourself. The terrace alone is worth the stay – I’ve paid more for hotel rooms with “balconies” that were basically wide windowsills. Here, you’ve got room to actually live a little, spread out, and remember why you came to the Côte d’Azur in the first place.
