— The hotel
Agences des Résidences – Rue Commandant André
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to this place on Rue du Commandant André – honestly, the name “Agences des Résidences” sounds more like a real estate office than a hotel. But here’s the thing about Cannes: sometimes the most unassuming spots turn out to be absolute gems, and this five-star property is exactly that kind of pleasant surprise.
The location is actually perfect if you know Cannes at all. You’re literally in the heart of the city center, which means you can walk to the Palais des Festivals in about eight minutes (I timed it), and the famous Croisette is right there when you want that full Riviera experience. But here’s what I really love – you’re on this quiet residential street that feels authentically French, not touristy at all. The locals are walking their dogs in the morning, there’s a proper boulangerie just around the corner, and you get this sense of actually living in Cannes rather than just visiting it. The building itself has that classic French elegance – well, it’s more understated than flashy, which I mean… in a town full of over-the-top luxury, that’s refreshing.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to create this five-star experience without all the pretentious nonsense you usually get in Cannes. The staff actually remembers your name (and your coffee order), the rooms have these beautiful high ceilings and original moldings that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s incredibly chic apartment, and – this is key – it’s quiet at night. You’d think being in the city center would mean noise, but this little street is surprisingly peaceful. I slept better here than at some of those beachfront hotels where you get the party crowds until 3 AM. The whole place has this residential feel that grows on you, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights. You start to feel like a temporary local rather than just another tourist, which honestly is worth its weight in gold during festival season when the rest of Cannes turns into complete chaos. It’s not the flashiest spot in town, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want – real comfort, genuine service, and a location that puts you right in the middle of everything without making you feel like you’re living in a fishbowl.
