Apartment La Croix des Gardes by Interhome
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Apartment La Croix des Gardes when I first booked it through Interhome – you know how apartment rentals can be hit or miss. But walking up to this place, tucked away in the residential hills above Cannes, I actually got excited. The building itself is classic French Riviera style, nothing fancy but solid, and you’re far enough from the Boulevard de la Croisette chaos that you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic and party boats.
What really won me over was the location – and I mean the real location, not just “close to everything” nonsense. You’re literally in the shadow of La Croix des Gardes park, which most tourists never even know exists. I’d walk up there every morning with my coffee (the apartment has a proper espresso maker, thank god) and get these incredible views over the bay without fighting crowds at the Palais des Festivals. The walk down into central Cannes takes maybe 15 minutes if you’re leisurely about it, and honestly, it’s kind of nice having that buffer zone. You get the authentic residential vibe – there’s a little boulangerie around the corner where the staff actually remembers your order after a few days, and a Casino supermarket that’s way less touristy than the ones near the beaches.
The apartment itself is… well, it’s exactly what you’d want from a solid 3-star place. Clean, functional, with that slightly worn-in feel that somehow makes it more comfortable than those sterile hotel rooms. The kitchen actually works for cooking real meals, which saved me a fortune since eating out in Cannes every night would’ve bankrupted me. Air conditioning that actually cools the place down (crucial in summer), and the Wi-Fi is reliable enough for video calls – I ended up working a few mornings from the little balcony. Parking can be a bit tricky on the narrow streets, but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. The only real downside? The building’s not soundproof, so if you get unlucky with neighbors, you’ll know about it. But most of the time it’s pretty quiet, especially compared to staying right in the thick of things. I’d definitely go back – it’s got that sweet spot of being close enough to dive into Cannes madness when you want it, but far enough away that you can actually relax and feel like you’re living somewhere, not just passing through.
Cannes hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Le Suquet district to elegant palace hotels and modern luxury accommodations along La Croisette Boulevard.
