— The hotel
Appartement 2bedrooms 3min de Palais des Festivals
Honestly, when I first walked up to this place on rue Georges Clémenceau, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked into this typical Cannes residential building that you’d probably walk right past. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. The two-bedroom apartment feels like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than some sterile hotel room, and I mean that in the best way possible.
The location is where this place really shines, and I’m not just talking about the whole “3 minutes to Palais des Festivals” thing (though yeah, you literally can walk there in flip-flops if you want). What I love is that you’re right in the thick of Cannes but on this quieter residential street where you can actually get some sleep. You’ve got the morning market at Marché Forville just around the corner – I’d grab fresh croissants and coffee there most mornings instead of paying hotel prices. The old port is maybe a five-minute stroll, and honestly, sitting at one of those waterfront cafés watching the yachts is worth the trip alone. Plus, you’re close enough to La Croisette that you can easily walk to all those fancy beach clubs, but far enough away that you won’t hear the late-night party crowds stumbling home.
The apartment itself is pretty solid for what you’re paying – nothing fancy, but everything works and there’s actually space to spread out, which you don’t always get in Cannes. The kitchen’s basic but functional if you want to cook (those Forville market tomatoes aren’t going to eat themselves), and having two proper bedrooms means you’re not fighting over bathroom time. I will say the building’s a bit old-school French, so don’t expect a fancy lobby or concierge service – it’s more like staying at your friend’s place, complete with the slightly temperamental elevator. The 8.2 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow you away, but it does exactly what it promises without any major disappointments. During festival season this area gets absolutely crazy busy, but the rest of the year it’s got this nice neighborhood vibe where you can pretend you’re a local for a few days.
