You know what caught me off guard about this little apartment? It’s tucked away on Avenue Selvosa in La Californie Pezou, which honestly sounds way fancier than it actually is – but in the best possible way. I mean, you’re still in Cannes, but you’re removed from all that Boulevard de la Croisette madness. The first time I walked up to the building, I was expecting something more… I don’t know, sterile? Instead, it feels like you’re staying at someone’s well-kept family place rather than a typical rental.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. La Californie is this residential neighborhood that most tourists completely skip over, but locals know it’s where you go when you want to feel like you live here instead of just visiting. You can walk down to the old port in about fifteen minutes if you don’t mind a decent hill – and trust me, after a few days of French pastries, you won’t mind the walk. There’s this little boulangerie just two streets over that opens ridiculously early, and the owner always remembers if you want your coffee extra strong. The apartment itself has that lived-in comfort that’s impossible to fake – the kind of place where the shower pressure is actually decent and the wifi doesn’t cut out every time someone uses the microwave.

What really sold me on this place was how quiet it gets at night. During festival season, you’ll hear the distant hum of the city, but it’s not keeping you awake like those hotels right on the main strip. The building has character too – old French architecture but not so old that you’re dealing with windows that don’t close properly or heating that’s more decorative than functional. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Cannes), but there’s street parking that locals use, and once you learn the rhythm of when spots open up, you’re golden. The whole area comes alive in the early evening when people are coming home from work or heading out for dinner – it’s got this authentic neighborhood vibe that you just can’t get staying in the hotel zone. If you’re the type who wants to experience Cannes like someone who actually lives there, rather than just checking off tourist boxes, this little apartment nails it perfectly.
