— The hotel
Beau Soleil Standing Presta
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Beau Soleil Standing Presta on Rue Jean Cresp, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you the most. This little hotel sits in Pointe Croisette, which means you’re actually within walking distance of all the Cannes action without paying those insane beachfront prices. I mean, you can stroll to the Palais des Festivals in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you’re taking your time and window shopping along the way.
The thing that really got me was how genuinely French it feels – not in that trying-too-hard touristy way, but more like… well, like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend to their visiting relatives. The staff switched between French and English effortlessly (my terrible attempts at French definitely amused the front desk guy), and they knew all the good spots that aren’t in the guidebooks. When I asked about dinner, instead of pointing me toward the obvious tourist traps, they sent me to this incredible little bistro two streets over where I had the best bouillabaisse of my entire trip. The rooms aren’t huge – this is France, after all, where space is premium – but they’re clean and comfortable with that particular European efficiency I’ve come to appreciate. The shower actually had decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in older buildings around here.
What really sealed the deal for me was the morning routine. There’s something about having your coffee and croissant (yes, they do a proper petit déjeuner) while watching Cannes wake up that just works. You’re close enough to hear the gentle buzz of the morning markets setting up, but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds at 7 AM. During festival season – which, let’s be real, is when most people are thinking about Cannes – this place fills up with industry folks who know the area well, so that tells you something right there. The 8.1 rating it’s got feels spot-on to me; it’s not trying to be the Majestic or the Martinez, but for what it is, it delivers. If you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on amazing meals and maybe a day trip to Nice instead of dropping a fortune on a room you’ll barely use, this is your spot. Just book early if you’re coming during any of the big events – apparently word is getting out about this place.
Apartments in Cannes provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional Provençal markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned French Mediterranean culinary traditions.
