Beautiful 1BR, heart of Suquet-Cannes – 5min beach

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment I walked up Rue du Pré, I realized I was staying in one of those narrow, winding streets that tourists usually just pass through on their way to the beach – but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it perfect. This little one-bedroom sits right in the heart of Le Suquet, which is the old town part of Cannes that most people don’t spend enough time exploring, and I mean that five-minute walk to the beach is no joke. I timed it.

The apartment itself has that lived-in charm that you don’t get in those sterile hotel chains. The bedroom window opens onto the street, and yeah, you’ll hear some foot traffic during the day (it’s the old town, after all), but by evening it gets surprisingly quiet. What I loved most was how the owner clearly knows this neighborhood – there’s a handwritten note about the best boulangerie being just around the corner on Rue Saint-Antoine, and they’re absolutely right. The kitchen is small but functional, which matters if you’re like me and want to grab fresh ingredients from the Marché Forville market instead of eating out every meal. Actually, that market is maybe a three-minute walk, and it’s where locals do their shopping, not the tourist traps down by the Croisette.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience real Cannes rather than just the glitzy stuff. You’re literally surrounded by tiny restaurants and wine bars that don’t even have English menus – I stumbled into this amazing little place called Le Comptoir de Suquet just two streets over, and it was packed with locals on a Tuesday night. When you do want the fancy beach clubs and designer shopping, it’s such an easy walk down the hill to La Croisette, but you get to come back up to this quieter, more authentic part of town. The climb back up can be a bit much if you’re carrying groceries or it’s really hot (summer afternoons get intense), but there’s something satisfying about it – like you’re escaping back to your own little corner of the city. Plus, the views from some of these streets as you walk up toward the apartment are pretty spectacular, especially in the early evening when the light hits the bay just right.
