Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Cannes Palm Beach tucked away on Avenue Reine Astrid, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in this ridiculously expensive city. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you the most. This little hotel sits right at Pointe Croisette, which means you’re literally at the tip of all the action without being stuck in the middle of the tourist chaos that swallows up Boulevard de la Croisette during festival season.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you think about it – you can walk to the Palais des Festivals in about ten minutes (I timed it), but you’re far enough from the main drag that you won’t have drunk party-goers stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The beach access is what really sold me though. There’s this quiet stretch of sand that most tourists miss because they’re all crowding around the famous hotel beaches closer to the center. The locals know about it, and now you do too. The rooms aren’t going to win any design awards – I mean, we’re talking standard European hotel modest here – but they’re clean, the AC actually works (crucial in summer), and honestly, the beds are more comfortable than you’d expect. The shower pressure is decent, which might not sound important until you’ve spent a day walking around Cannes in July heat.

What really makes this place work is the staff – they actually seem to care, which is refreshing in a city where service can be… well, let’s just say inconsistently French. The guy at reception (I think his name was Laurent?) gave me directions to a fantastic little café on Rue Meynadier that I never would have found otherwise. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare around here, but the hotel has a small lot, and while it’s not cheap, it beats circling the streets for an hour looking for a spot. The breakfast isn’t anything revolutionary, but there’s fresh bread from a local bakery, and the coffee is strong enough to fuel your morning walk along the coast. During Cannes Film Festival, forget about it – you’ll pay triple and still feel lucky to get a room. But in the shoulder seasons? This place is actually a steal. You’re getting that Croisette address without the Croisette price tag, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The elevator is tiny and occasionally temperamental, and the WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors, but these are minor complaints when you consider you’re a stone’s throw from some of the most expensive real estate on the French Riviera.
