— The hotel
Cannes près Croisette beau 2 pièces 3 étoiles
Honestly, when I first walked up to Les Vénitiennes on Rue Volta, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, the street’s pretty quiet and residential, tucked away in La Californie which is sort of Cannes’ upscale residential area that most tourists never even know exists. But this little 2-piece apartment completely surprised me. The building itself has this elegant, almost Venetian feel (hence the name, I guess), and you’re literally a 10-minute walk to the Croisette, which sounds far but actually feels perfect because you get to cut through some gorgeous tree-lined streets that give you a real sense of how locals live here.
What I loved most about this place is that it strikes this perfect balance – you’re close enough to all the Cannes action that you can walk to the beaches and the fancy hotels without breaking a sweat, but far enough up the hill that you’re not dealing with the constant noise and crowds. The apartment itself is genuinely well-maintained (that 9.5 rating isn’t just for show), with a proper living space that doesn’t feel cramped like so many “2-piece” places do. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab some fresh stuff from the Forville market – and honestly, after a few days of restaurant prices in Cannes, you’ll probably want to. The whole La Californie neighborhood has this refined, quiet vibe that’s completely different from the touristy parts down by the water, with these beautiful Belle Époque villas everywhere and actual parking spots (which, trust me, is gold in Cannes).
You know what really sold me though? The little details that show someone actually cares about this place. The Wi-Fi works perfectly, the shower has proper water pressure, and there’s decent soundproofing – I could barely hear the street noise even with the windows open. Plus, you’re positioned perfectly for exploring beyond just the obvious Cannes stuff. The Pezou area has some excellent local restaurants that the film festival crowds never find, and you can easily walk to the Parc de la Roseraie when you need a break from all the glitz. I mean, don’t get me wrong, this isn’t going to compete with the Martinez or the Carlton for pure luxury, but for actually experiencing Cannes like someone who lives here rather than just passing through? It’s pretty much perfect. The whole setup just feels authentic – like staying at a well-organized friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room.
