The location is genuinely perfect, and I mean that in the most practical way possible. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Palais des Festivals – I timed it because I’m obsessive like that – and about the same distance to Rue d’Antibes for shopping. What I really loved though was being on Casanova street itself; it’s this quiet residential road that most tourists never discover, so you get actual sleep at night instead of the usual Cannes party noise. The morning bakery run to the little boulangerie on the corner became my daily ritual, and honestly, that’s when you know you’ve found a neighborhood gem rather than just another tourist trap.

The hotel itself feels more like a well-maintained apartment building that decided to rent rooms, which sounds weird but works surprisingly well. My room was clean in that European way where everything’s compact but thoughtfully arranged – none of that American sprawl, but you’re not bumping into furniture either. The shower pressure was actually decent (miracle in France, let’s be real), and the air conditioning worked without sounding like a jet engine. I mean, it’s not going to wow you with marble bathrooms or whatever, but after spending days walking around Cannes in the heat, all I wanted was a cold room and a comfortable bed. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no lengthy presentations about spa services I can’t afford, just keys and directions to the elevator.

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s approach to recommendations. Instead of pushing expensive restaurants, they’d mention things like which supermarket has the best wine selection (Monoprix on Rue d’Antibes, apparently) or that the beach access near the Martinez is free if you don’t mind walking an extra two minutes past the private sections. These are the details that actually matter when you’re trying to experience Cannes without blowing your entire budget on overpriced cocktails. The 8.5 rating makes complete sense once you realize this isn’t trying to compete with the palace hotels along La Croisette – it’s succeeding at being the comfortable, unpretentious base camp that most of us actually need. You’ll spend your days exploring anyway, so why not sleep somewhere that feels like a local secret rather than a tourist convention?
