— The hotel
Jolie 3 pièces avec terrasse au vieux port, à 2 pas des plages et du palais.
You know what struck me first about this place? The name’s almost comically long – “Jolie 3 pièces avec terrasse au vieux port, à 2 pas des plages et du palais” – but honestly, it’s just someone being completely literal about what you’re getting. And they’re not wrong. I mean, you really are two steps from pretty much everything that matters in Cannes.
The location on Rue de la Rampe is one of those streets that tourists walk past without really noticing, but locals know it’s perfectly positioned. You’re tucked into the old port area where you can actually hear the boats creaking at their moorings if you step out on that terrace they mention – especially in the early morning before the city wakes up. The apartment itself has that lived-in French charm that’s hard to fake. The three rooms are configured in a way that actually makes sense (not always a given in these old Cannes buildings), and the terrace… well, it’s not huge, but it catches the afternoon light beautifully. I found myself having coffee out there every morning, watching the mix of fishing boats and ridiculous yachts bob around below.
What I really appreciated was how walkable everything is from here. The Palais des Festivals is literally a five-minute stroll – I timed it because I’m obsessive like that – and you can cut through some charming side streets that most visitors never see. The beaches are even closer, though honestly, in peak season you’ll want to claim your spot early or you’ll be paying premium prices for a decent chair. The area gets busy during festival season (obviously), but the rest of the year it has this lovely, almost sleepy quality where you can hear conversations drifting up from the street in the evenings. Parking can be a bit of a headache – this is Cannes, after all – but there’s a public garage nearby that’s not too brutal on the wallet. The 8.4 rating seems about right to me. It’s not luxury in the marble-and-gold sense, but it’s comfortable and authentic, with little touches that show someone actually cares about the place. The check-in was straightforward, and when I had a minor issue with the WiFi, it got sorted quickly. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel like I was living in Cannes rather than just visiting it.
