— The hotel
La Croisette
You know what struck me first about La Croisette? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you – and honestly, that’s refreshing in Cannes where everything can feel a bit over-the-top. The hotel sits right on rue Venizelos, which is actually perfect if you know the area. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Palais des Festivals (where all the film festival madness happens), but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of La Croisette boulevard itself. I mean, don’t get me wrong – you’ll still hear some street noise, especially during festival season, but it’s manageable.
The building itself has that classic French charm without being stuffy about it. It’s a solid 3-star setup, and the 7.4 rating makes sense when you actually stay there. The rooms are… well, they’re what you’d expect for a mid-range place in this part of Cannes. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable with decent Wi-Fi (which honestly can be hit-or-miss in some of the older buildings around here). What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this little bakery on rue Meynadier that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which beaches to hit when the main ones get too crowded.
Here’s the thing about staying here – location is everything in Cannes, and this spot gets it right. You can walk to the old town (Le Suquet) in about ten minutes if you don’t mind a bit of uphill, or head the other direction toward the fancy hotel strips along the coast. Parking is… well, it’s Cannes, so don’t expect miracles, but there are a couple of public lots nearby that won’t completely break the bank. The hotel doesn’t have all the bells and whistles you’d get at the Carlton or Martinez, but that also means you’re not paying those prices. During quieter months (basically anything outside of May and the summer rush), it’s actually quite peaceful, and you get a real feel for what Cannes is like when it’s not performing for the cameras. If you’re looking for a place that’s comfortable, well-located, and won’t make you feel like you need to dress up just to walk through the lobby, La Croisette hits that sweet spot.
Cannes hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Le Suquet district to elegant palace hotels and modern luxury accommodations along La Croisette Boulevard.
