— The hotel
Le Week riviera II – 3 étoiles -Coeur de Cannes – Palais des festivals – Marché de Forville
You know what struck me first about Le Week riviera II? The name’s a bit of a mouthful, honestly, but the location is absolutely spot-on. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Cannes here on Rue du Père Muret – it’s this quiet little street that somehow manages to be perfectly central without all the tourist chaos. Walk two minutes and you’re at the Palais des Festivals where all the film festival magic happens, but the hotel itself sits on a street that actually lets you sleep at night.
The 3-star rating might make you think “budget option,” but this place punches way above its weight – that 9.2 rating isn’t just luck. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but they’ve got that French efficiency thing down where everything just works. What I really appreciated was how the staff actually knew their neighborhood. When I asked about the Marché de Forville (which is literally around the corner), the front desk guy didn’t just point me in the right direction – he told me which vendors had the best olives and warned me it gets crazy busy around 10 AM on Saturdays. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t Google.
Speaking of the market, having it so close is honestly a game-changer if you’re planning to stay more than a couple days. You can grab fresh fruit and pastries for breakfast, maybe some cheese and wine for an impromptu picnic by the harbor. The location means you’re walking distance from the old port area where locals actually eat (as opposed to the touristy spots along La Croisette), and you can still easily get to all the glitzy stuff when you want to. Parking around here is… well, it’s Cannes, so it’s challenging, but the hotel staff seemed pretty helpful about directing people to the nearest public lots. I actually walked everywhere, which worked out great – even made it down to the beaches without breaking a sweat. The whole setup just felt right, you know? Like staying in a real neighborhood instead of some sterile hotel district.
